How to Use a Daily Draw Worksheet

Many people underestimate the power of the daily draw, often because they just don’t think enough about the card.  I have had students in the past who performed the daily draw (as I assigned them to do) but never really gave their card ample thought.  Many would draw their card, look up the meaning in the little white book (the LWB), nod their head and then go on with their day.  When learning the Tarot, the daily draw can be a wonderful learning tool and can help you look at and learn the cards from many different perspectives.

So now I suggest to beginning students to complete a daily draw worksheet to look at the various possibilities of their daily card.  On the worksheet, you could include such elements as:

  • Initial impressions of the card
  • What imagery of the card jumps out at you?
What are the predominant colors in the card?
  • How might this card relate to your current thoughts or concerns?
  • How might this card relate to your current emotions or feelings?
  • How might this card relate to your willpower, passion or enthusiasm?
  • How might this card relate to your work or career?
  • How might this card relate to your spiritual life/spiritual journey?
  • How might this card relate to your health or physical well being?
  • How might this card relate to your financial life?
  • How might this card relate to your business or career?
  • How might this card relate to your relationships?
  • What action could this card suggest?
  • What could be at least one positive meaning for this card?
  • What could be at least one negative meaning for this card?
  • What are your overall conclusions?
  • If you pull a card for a weekly draw, how does this card relate to or integrate with your weekly card?
  • Overall conclusions

By completing your worksheet after each daily draw, your understanding of the Tarot cards will deepen quickly as you learn the different possible meanings and applications of each card.  This practice will also help you interpret a card regardless of where it falls in the spread.

Spending a bit of time thinking about and working with your daily card will increase your understanding of the cards and will be certainly more than worth the effort in the long run.
